A Taste of Funny

WDG welcomes you to the first 6x10, Liverpool's ten minute play festival, for its 'A Taste of Funny' showcase.

Featuring 6 bite-size pieces of new writing, there's something for everyone, with comedy tales of Liverpool life for one night only!

After whittling down all the entries, and having our open auditions, we are now getting ready to put together a special night of entertainment, with support from across our wider South Liverpool am dram community. From 1960's schoolkids to dating seniors and even ghostly apparitions, there's plenty of laughs to be had and a chance to see some local talent from page to the stage.

Tickets for the showcase are now available from

Woolton Drama Group has been putting on shows, plays and pantomimes in the area for over sixty years.

We are open to anyone who may be interested in getting involved with amdram, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced thespian.

We are welcoming to potential actors, stage crew, technicians, musicians, set builders and make-up artists.

We currently rehearse and perform in St Hilda's Church Hall, Stuart Avenue, Huntscross, L25 0NN.

Our rehearsals are usually at 8:00pm on Monday nights and we normally finish around 10pm.

WDG is an adult group and generally operate on a 16 years+ policy, though exceptions can be made under certain circumstances - typically if accompanied by a responsible adult.

Amateur Hour is a new podcast from WDGers David Jeffery and Paul Arends. It explores the weird and wonderful world of amateur dramatics - the highs and lows, and everything in between.

We'll be speaking to people from all across the country, from groups of all shapes and sizes, finding out what makes them tick, and why we put so much time and effort into entertaining the public.

We want this podcast to bring together the amdram community, no matter how expensive your tickets are, how flashy your sets look, and how good your interval refreshments are.

Nothing is off-topic, so let's take a dive backstage and get on with the show - you can listen below, or by going to Anchor.fm/AmdramPodcast
